Chapter Eight

Ever since the incident with the father issue, Mina has been thinking a lot. She would space out, staring into nothing with her big eyes glossing over. She is hiding something from me and I have a good idea of what the underlying problem is.

She still can’t let go of the fact that she is a bargaining chip between two nations, I refuse to let her fall into the grasp of that foolish man who is the sperm donor.

When Mina asks me to set up one meeting with her father, she promised me that one meeting would determine what she would do. Whatever she chooses, we will proceed with our wedding.

She is mine, but in two days, she will be mine legally.

I want her heart to rest with her final decision, but she is too distracted to be truly happy. The moment I know two soldiers from the northern territories are on my land, I just knew they come with trouble and I didn’t expect this much disruption as it caused confusion and distress to my little girl.

How fucking dare them.

If Mina wants a meeting, then she will have to have it with me because I’m not trusting. Mina would get ambushed by lies and fancy words, guilt-tripping her to marrying some damned brat. I will be there to cease her decision-making, everything will go through me and they will not convince me to let her go.

I have no problem locking her up in our bedroom.

Being softened by Mina is not a shocking fact, she brings the gentle beast in me to care for her and protect her delicate body with my harder and muscled one. I will take any blade, any stone thrown at her. My little girl has tender skin, sharp instruments would claim their mark on her beautiful body, but she is more fragile at heart. A little girl inside and out, and I know that she would take insults to the heart.

“Thank you for meeting me.” there’s a pause in Mina’s voice as she has no idea what title she should address her father, the man who hasn’t bothered to see her since birth.

“Of course,” a pleasant smile plays coyly on the man’s lips.

This is a neutral area, no one has claimed over this small city as it is a solo nation without protection from bigger nations. The leader of the city had been generous to give us space and privacy to get the business done, however, he gave us one-hour time limit as we have guards surrounding the place.

Mina squirms in my lap, unable to come up with a thing to say. The man beside her father is a man going by the name of Peter Phillips, a young man too out of his elements to have any authority in this meeting.

“How are you?” the father said, his name is another one I familiarize myself with.
